New Majority OC Endorses Assemblyman Steven Choi, Ph.D. for Re-Election in Assembly District 73
Orange County, Calif., February 9, 2022 – Today, New Majority Orange County announced its endorsement of Steven Choi for re-election in Assembly District 73.
“California's Democratic leadership's extremist policies have sent California families and businesses fleeing the State in record numbers and made California a national punch line,” said Steve Craig, Interim Chairman, New Majority Orange County. “Dr. Choi is the type of leader we need in Sacramento, who will fight for smart, limited government, a strong economy and address issues like homelessness and failing schools.”
“Dr. Steven Choi came to this country as an immigrant, worked hard to excel in academia and in business and devoted his life to improving his community,” said Craig. “While serving in the Assembly, Dr. Choi has led efforts to improve Orange County Schools, protect Proposition 13, tackle the homeless problem, and reduce the cost of health care. Dr. Choi is the kind of leader that we need in Sacramento to bring smart solutions to many broken systems and we enthusiastically endorse his re-election,” added Craig.
Assemblymember Choi added, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of New Majority Orange County, an organization committed to the betterment of our community and the state. For over 20 years, I have committed myself to supporting hardworking families, protecting consumers, and fighting back against higher taxes and regulations. I am running for re-election in AD 73 to restore balance in Sacramento and am thrilled to have the support of local organizations such as New Majority OC.”
The New Majority is one of the largest statewide political organizations in California. Through education and contributions, it seeks to inform its membership and contribute resources to Republican and other philosophically aligned candidates and issues that share its mission.
Steven Choi served as Mayor and a Councilmember of Irvine for 12 years prior to his election to the State Assembly in 2016. A life-long educator, Dr. Choi also served as Trustee of the Irvine Unified School District. Now, he serves as Vice Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee in addition to serving in the Committees of Banking and Finance; Human Services; Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media; and Legislative Ethics. He and his wife Janie are business owners for over 30 years in Irvine, and have two grown children, a physician and an attorney.
