Lincoln Club of Orange County Endorses Assemblyman Steven Choi, Ph.D. for Re-Election in Assembly District 73

Orange County, Calif., February 18, 2022 – Today, California’s leading conservative donor organization, the Lincoln Club of Orange County, announced its endorsement of Steven Choi for Assembly District 73.

The new 73rd State Assembly District includes Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Tustin and is being sought out by two incumbents: Choi who currently represents AD-68 and Cottie Petrie-Norris who currently represents AD-74.

Lincoln Club of Orange County President Teresa Hernandez issued the following statement:

"California communities are being hit left and right by the repercussions of Sacramento’s irresponsible spending. We need legislators like Steven Choi representing Assembly Seat 73 instead of tax-and-spend Democrats like Cottie Petrie-Norris who enable Newsom’s agenda that renders California unlivable for residents new and old.

“While Petrie-Norris has sat in Sacramento voting with her own self-interests in mind, Assemblyman Choi has developed a great track record of pushing back against unproductive legislation that sends already astronomical home prices, gas prices, and overall cost of living sky high.

“More and more Californians are on the streets instead of living under their own roof and in the worst cases they have to pack up and leave. When re-elected to Assembly, Choi will continue to advocate for policies that make it possible for young Californians to remain in the state they know and love."

Steven Choi served as Mayor and a Councilmember of Irvine for 12 years prior to his election to the State Assembly in 2016. A life-long educator, Dr. Choi also served as Trustee of the Irvine Unified School District. Now, he serves as Vice Chair of the Assembly Higher Education Committee in addition to serving in the Committees of Banking and Finance; Human Services; Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media; and Legislative Ethics. He and his wife Janie are business owners for over 30 years in Irvine, and have two grown children, a physician and an attorney.
